Alton, VA – Tommy Archer and the Archer Brothers team will start in the 7th row for tomorrows 31 lap race at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, VA due to rainy track conditions cancelling the qualifying session. The grid will be lined up based on the current points standings with Tommy starting in the 14th position due to starting the series mid-way through the season. Although the track conditions remained wet and slick, the 28 Trans Am TA2 drivers did take the track for two practice sessions on Friday with Tommy 5th quick and within a few seconds of the fastest lap of the day.
The Archer Brothers team was disappointed Tommy didn’t get a chance to qualify as the track was clean and the rain had slowed to a minimal drizzle by the end of the day. The team is confident that the #54 c3controls Chevrolet Camaro was fast enough to start in the first 3 rows. “We know we have a fast car, the crew has worked hard and we are feeling good,” says Tommy.
Tommy and the Trans Am TA2 field will have 1 remaining practice session today in preparation for tomorrow’s race at 12:50pm EST.
