Sebring, FL – Tommy Archer wasted no time during today’s qualifying session proving that the #54 Koolmat/Kolar Chevrolet Camaro was fast and a serious contender for the pole position. Archer will start 3rd for tomorrow’s 100 mile/27 lap race at Sebring International Raceway in a field of 32 TA2 cars. Tommy, with his fast lap of 2:08.859, narrowly missed the pole position from defending champion Gar Robinson with a time of 2:08.358 – creating competitive battles already in the first race of the season.
Archer began Friday’s track activities feeling good with the morning practice session resulting in the 4th quickest time and said the car felt fast within the first lap. “The team worked hard to get the qualifying set up just right. I took my quick lap and made a slight mistake in turn 5 trying to get those few extra tenths of a second and it cost me my fast lap. I’m still happy with our time, starting position and we have a great car. It’s going to be a long race tomorrow and we need to keep our nose clean,” says Tommy.
The Archer Brothers team would like to thank Koolmat, Kolar Chevrolet and Jody Berquist for their support of our team this weekend in Sebring.
Tommy and the Trans Am TA2 field will be on the track for tomorrow’s race at 11:00am EST. Stay up to date with all the latest information by visiting our Archer Brothers Facebook page and follow along with live timing and scoring via Race Monitor app or visit www.gotransam.com.
